GC received the Selection Committee Special Award of the 1st Japan Open Innovation Prize!
The result of the “1st Japan Open Innovation Prize” presented by the Cabinet Office, Ministries, etc. was released on February 5, 2019. GC is quite pleased to announce that the company has been awarded the Selection Committee Special Prize for “development and practical application of bone graft substitutes: GC Cytrans Granules.”
The Prize was established to further promote open innovations and accelerate innovations in Japan by honoring and introducing leading or creative initiatives expected to serve as role models in the future. “Development and practical application of bone graft substitutes: GC Cytrans Granules” is a successful industry-government-academia collaborative project using a research seed planted by a university.
GC Cytrans Granules is the world’s first bone graft substitutes using synthetic carbonate apatite for application in the medical field. With its wider clinical indications, GC Cytrans Granules is expected to receive a high evaluation in foreign countries as a Made-in-Japan certified product.
In total, 212 projects applied for the 1st Japan Open Innovation Prize, and 12 Awards including the Prime Minister’s Award went to 14 projects. The Awarding Ceremony will be held in Tokyo on March 5, 2019.
